A taste of the ocean. This is a smooth creamy dip with a hint of the ocean, not a real "fishy" taste. It is mild, delicious, super easy to make, and a bit addicting. I made a small batch the first time, and discovered my husband loved it as much as I did, so I would suggest making a double batch as shown below so you don't fight over it. :)
Ingredients:
2 cans of Garbanzo Beans drained and rinsed
3 tsp Kelp Granules (link below if your grocer does not carry it)
1/8 tsp Old Bay Seasoning (Optional, I prefer just a sprinkle on top before serving)
1/8 tsp (or just a sprinkle) of Crushed Red Chili Pepper
2 ribs of celery, chunks
1/2 of small red onion, chunks
1/2 of small red pepper, chunks
3 T +- of your favorite Vegan Mayo
S&P to taste
Put your chunks of onion, celery, and red pepper in *food processor and pulse until finely chopped, put in large bowl with vegan mayo, S&P, kelp granules, crushed red pepper, and old bay seasoning. Stir to combine well and set aside. Put your Garbanzo Beans in the food processor, and pulse just 3-4 times, just enough to break up the beans, but be careful that you don't turn it into hummus, you want it to still be a bit chunky and dry. Combine with your other mixture, and sprinkle a bit of the Old Bay seasoning on top. Refrigerate for at least one hour before serving. Delicious as a dip for veggies, crackers, pretzels, and it makes a divine sandwich spread. Enjoy!
*If you don't have a food processor, simply mash the garbanzo beans with a fork, and finely dice the rest of ingredients before combining.
